At an early age, Bezos showed an intense interest in science. That all changed when he went to high school in Miami. He fell in love with computers and later graduated from Princeton University as a Computer Science and Electrical Engineering major.
After graduation, Bezos worked for Wall Street because the demand for computer science was very high. He then moved to work for Fitel, which is a start-up company building networks to carry out international trade. After Fitel, he went to Bankers Trust where he became Vice President.
His next move was to join D.E. Shaw, where he made use of his computer science skills. He would later become Vice President and make a discovery that changed his life.
In 1994, Bezos noticed that the Internet usage was increasing and he began to consider the possibilities of making a great future by means of the Internet. Bezos learned everything he could and reviewed and researched the top 20 mail order businesses. He learned and understood that books are the perfect products for an e-commerce business.
After thorough research and planning, Amazon.com was launched on July 16, 1995 and what started as a two-bedroom business... well, the rest, as they say, is history.
